For more than a year and a half, I worked as Web Development Associate at The Lone Star Project responsible for the organization’s online presence, including the web site, email marketing, and social media accounts. My work spanned a wide range of areas including regular updates to the website and development of landing pages and micro-sites, viral graphics, posts and short videos for Facebook and Twitter, custom-designed graphic emails, and monitoring of analytics and optimization.

Social Media

A large part of my job was keeping the Lone Star Project social media accounts fresh with new content relevant to the latest news in Texas politics and the most recent Lone Star Project reports, research and analysis.

Following the famous filibuster by Wendy Davis in the Texas Senate in mid-2013, Lone Star Project hosted Senator Davis in Washington, DC for a Twitter Town Hall. Following a week of organic promotion on social media, the event produced over 1 million tweets with the #AskWendy within a 2 hour period, becoming the top trending topic nationwide.

Some of the Lone Star Project’s original research found its way into short videos posted to YouTube, social media, and emailed out to Lone Star Project supporters.

Email

On a daily basis I produced a news clips digest covering Texas and national political news. The PoliClips were sent out every morning to over 1,200 recipients. Lone Star Project also did regular updates to a wider list of over 80,000 email addresses highlighting news articles critical of Texas Republicans, LSP original opposition research and more.

This email was produced in the late stages of the 2014 campaign cycle to highlight issues relevant to a state House race in Tarrant County, Texas:
