Some of the earliest digital work I did in politics was with the American University College Democrats. When I joined the organization, it was in need of someone to develop a website. My role creating the club’s first functional website quickly expanded to include new Facebook and Twitter marketing and then print advertising for events and more. For over a year, I produced all the publicity materials, both print and digital for all the club’s meetings, events and speakers.
When I started as Communications Director, I spent the summer designing a new logo for the club, one that quickly redefined the branding of the organization and is still used today, more than 5 years later. I moved the website to WordPress with a custom built theme, paving the way for the site to become a forum for guest blogs by club members.
